Venture capital firm Accel and Dutch technology investor Prosus have invested in six Indian startups operating in segments including spacetech and brain-computer interface under their inaugural Atoms X cohort.
The Atoms X programme was announced in Novemeber last year. As part of the programme they will co-invest in early-stage Indian startups working on "bold innovations".
The six selected startups are tackling foundational, long-horizon challenges across climate infrastructure, space access, and next-generation healthcare to deliver a step-function change in the human experience, an Accel blogpost said.
While the startup Praan, founded by Angad Daryani, says it is designing air for human physiology, Qosmic, founded by Shreyaans Jain, Rohit Ramakrishnan, and Aloke Kumar, says it is building the first vertically integrated optical communication platform.
The other selected startups are EtherealX, which is building fully reusable medium-lift launch rockets; Ferra, which is engaged in promoting longevity through home workouts; and Dognosis, which is working on early-stage cancer detection from breath. The sixth startup is in stealth mode and is building an advanced brain computer interface.
The statement said that the six startups were selected from over 2,000 applications.
Separately, Accel Atoms has also partnered with Google to jointly invest in Indian and Indian-origin startups. Earlier this month, they also announced the first cohort under their initiative.
