Anthropic expands deal with Google worth tens of billions of dollars

Anthropic said that it is expanding its partnership with Google to access up to 1 million of the tech giant's chips worth tens of billions of dollars to train its Claude models.
Anthropic chose Google's Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) chips due to their price-performance and efficiency, according to a joint statement.
The Claude maker will also get access to additional Google Cloud services, which will empower its research and development teams, it added.
Anthropic and Google Cloud had initially announced a strategic partnership in 2023, with Anthropic using Google Cloud's AI infrastructure to train its models.
Google's chips act an alternative to Nvidia's chips.
Anthropic's rival OpenAI has been using Nvidia's graphics processing units and AMD's AI chips to power its growing demand.
Last month, Anthropic said that it has raised $13 billion in its Series F funding round at a $183 billion post-money valuation.
