AI startup Anthropic has signed a $50 billion computing infrastructure deal with Fluidstack to build data centers in New York and Texas.
More sites will be announced to build the data centres that will be custom built for Anthropic, said Fluidstack in a statement.
The project is expected to create around 800 permanent jobs and 2,400 construction jobs.
“We’re getting closer to AI that can accelerate scientific discovery and help solve complex problems in ways that weren’t possible before. Realizing that potential requires infrastructure that can support continued development at the frontier,” said Dario Amodei, CEO and co-founder of Anthropic.
“These sites will help us build more capable AI systems that can drive those breakthroughs, while creating American jobs," added Amodei.
Other tech and AI startups have also been investing in building data centres.
Meta has pledged to build $600 billion worth of data centers over the next three years.
The Stargate partnership between SoftBank, OpenAI, and Oracle has already lined up $500 billion in planned infrastructure spending.
