Anthropic said that it will be opening its first office in India in Bengaluru city in early 2026 as the Claude maker seeks to expand its operations globally.
Recently, its rival OpenAI also announced plans to open its first office in India's capital Delhi, underlining significant interest in the South Asian nation that has nearly one billion internet users.
Bengaluru will be its second office in the Asia Pacific region after Tokyo, which is expected to get its office in by the end of this year, said Anthropic in a statement.
India is compelling because of the scale of its technical talent and the commitment from the Indian government to ensure the benefits of artificial intelligence reach all areas of society, not just concentrated pockets,” said Dario Amodei, CEO and co-founder, Anthropic.
The expansion in India also dovetails with withs continuing investment in advancing Claude’s Indic language capabilities, the statement added.
The statement noted that the Bengaluru office will support India's entrepreneurial ecosystem as it develops the next generation of dynamic companies.
