Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart, owned by Walmart, said it has acquired a majority stake in an artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) solutions provider Minivet AI.
The acquisition is part of a strategic move to build and invest in core generative AI (GenAI) capabilities to enhance the shopping experience at Flipkart, as per a statement.
Financial details of the transaction were not revealed.
Aditya Rachakonda, founder, Minivet AI, said the partnership would allow the company to rapidly deploy its GenAI solutions at scale.
"From catalogue videofication to conversational search, this collaboration enables us to make shopping more intuitive and immersive for millions of users on India’s leading ecommerce platform," added Rachakonda.
The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions.
Earlier in September, Flipkart acquired a majority stake in digital infotainment platform Pinkvilla.
