Former executives at Epigamia, Housing.com and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) have come together to launch Kokasa, a deeptech startup building systems for the defence, aerospace and space sectors.
The company was founded by Rahul Jain, co-founder of Epigamia; Snehil Gautam, former executive at Housing.com; and Vikalp Bagdi, who has previously worked with HAL and Textron. The founders are also IIT Bombay alumni.
The startup did not disclosed details of funding in its launch announcement.
Kokasa is developing electromechanical and electrohydraulic systems covering actuation, motion control, sensing, instrumentation and embedded control. It is also working on autonomous systems involving perception, sensor fusion, guidance and control, and coordination between multiple systems.
The startup is already executing indigenisation programmes for defence platforms including the Su-30MKI, MiG-29 and T-72, according to the company.
Kokasa is also developing what it calls Collaborative Autonomous Systems, which allow multiple autonomous and semi-autonomous platforms, sensors and effectors to operate through a common software architecture.
The company is building its capabilities from the physical systems layer upwards, combining hardware, embedded software and autonomy technologies across platforms.
"Our vision is to build advanced technologies in India for sectors that are critical to the country's future," said Jain.
