Space technology startup GalaxEye has acquired spacecraft engineering firm StarOps in a move aimed at expanding its satellite development and mission execution capabilities.
The deal brings StarOps’ satellite technologies, engineering expertise and experienced workforce into GalaxEye. Several members of the StarOps team have previously worked on lunar lander and rover programmes at TeamIndus, bringing experience across mission planning, spacecraft design, operations and lifecycle management.
Established in 2022, StarOps focuses on satellite platform development and indigenous spacecraft technologies. Its capabilities span propulsion, avionics, flight computing, navigation systems, spacecraft structures, electrical systems, mission operations and ground infrastructure. The company says it has achieved more than 66% localisation across its satellite systems, helping reduce reliance on overseas supply chains.
The acquisition also gives GalaxEye access to StarOps’ qualified satellite bus platforms in the 50 kg, 150 kg and 250 kg categories, along with proprietary subsystems, testing infrastructure and engineering tools.
GalaxEye said the integration will strengthen its in-house engineering capabilities and enable greater vertical integration, allowing it to undertake end-to-end missions spanning spacecraft design, development, deployment and operations.
Founded in 2021 by Suyash Singh, Denil Chawda, Kishan Thakkar, Pranit Mehta, Rakshit Bhatt and Satya Chakravarthy, GalaxEye is building Earth observation solutions using its OptoSAR technology, which combines Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) with optical imaging to enable all-weather, round-the-clock observation.
The acquisition comes as India’s spacetech ecosystem gains momentum, with private companies increasingly expanding their capabilities across the space value chain. Skyroot Aerospace marked a major milestone on July 18, 2026, with the successful launch of Vikram-1 from Sriharikota. The company also raised a fresh funding round this year, entering the unicorn club.
