Meta is hiring Apple's top executive in charge of artificial intelligence models, Ruoming Pang, as the Mark Zuckerberg-led company continues to go aggressive on beefing up its new superintelligence team.

Pang will join Meta's superintelligence team for a compensation package worth millions of dollars, Bloomberg News reported citing unidentified people.

Pang had joined Apple in 2021 and in his current role was leading the foundation model team at the tech giant, per his LinkedIn profile.

Prior to that Pang had worked for a little over 15 years at Google. As per the profile, he had also led Google Brain's speech recognition research and product engagement project.

Pang is the latest to be lured by Meta to join its superintelligence team. Zuckerberg went on a hiring spree after first making a significant investment in data labeling company Scale AI last month. As part of the deal, he also brought in Scale AI's co-founder Alexandr Wang to lead Meta's superintelligence unit as chief AI officer.

Earlier this month, Wang wrote on X that he will be working alongside former GitHub CEO Nat Friedman. Wang also listed the names of other employees hired by Meta from rival companies OpenAI and DeepMind.

Later, Meta also roped in Safe Intelligence's co-founder and CEO Daniel Gross. This prompted Ilya Sutskever to formally step into the role of CEO at Safe Intelligence, which he had launched last year after leaving OpenAI.
