Meta has announced an up to $6 billion multi-year partnership with Gorilla Glass maker Corning.
As part of the partnership, Corning will supply fiber optic cables for its data center infrastructure.
Corning will expand its manufacturing capabilities across its operations including at the Trivium Corporate Center in Catawba County, North Carolina to meet the demand.
Joel Kaplan, chief global affairs officer, Meta, noted that the collaboration will help create skilled jobs.
Wendell P. Weeks, chairman and CEO of Corning, said that the partnership with Meta reflects Corning’s commitment to develop, innovate, and manufacture the critical technologies that power next generation data centers here in the US.
Meta has pledged approximately $600 billion toward US technology infrastructure and employment opportunities over a three-year period. Earlier this month, Meta unveiled its "Meta Compute" program designed to expand AI infrastructure while managing its worldwide network of data facilities and vendor relationships.
