OpenAI buys Software Applications

OpenAI said it has acquired Software Applications Inc, the maker of natural language interface for Mac called Sky.
Nick Turley, vice president and Head of ChatGPT, said in a blogpost that Sky’s deep integration with the Mac accelerates OpenAI's vision of bringing AI directly into the tools people use every day.
The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
The blogpost noted that an investment fund associated with Sam Altman held a passive investment in Software Applications. The deal was approved by the independent transaction and audit committees of OpenAI’s board of directors.
Earlier this month, OpenAI acquired Roi, a personal finance app developer.
Last month, the AI startup acquired the product testing startup Statsig. It also bought io, the AI hardware startup co-founded by former Apple design chief Jony Ive while its plans to acquire AI coding startup Windsurf fell through. Google later struck a deal to acquire some of Windsurf's top talent.
