AI startup OpenAI has launched a new web browser Atlas with ChatGPT built in, heating up competition against Google.
"As you use Atlas, ChatGPT can get smarter and more helpful, too. Browser memories let ChatGPT remember context from the sites you visit and bring that context back when you need it," explained OpenAI in a blogpost.
ChatGPT Atlas is currently available to users globally on macOS to Free, Plus, Pro, and Go users. It is also available in beta for business, and if enabled by their plan administrator, for enterprise and edu users. It will be available for Windows, iOS, and Android soon, it added.
ChatGPT can also do work for users in Atlas using agent mode, it said.
Agent mode in Atlas is available at present in preview for Plus, Pro, and Business users, it added.
Earlier in July, AI startup Perplexity also launched its AI-powered web browser Comet.
While Atlas and Comet, directly challenge Google's lead as a popular browser, the tech giant hasn't been totally passive about integrating AI into Google Chrome. In July, Google also rolled out its AI-powered search engine AI Mode.
