AI startup OpenAI has said that it has partnered with semiconductor company Broadcom for 10 gigawatts (GW) of custom AI accelerators.
As part of the partnership, OpenAI will design the accelerators and systems, the Sam Altman-led startup said in a blogpost.
The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
“Partnering with Broadcom is a critical step in building the infrastructure needed to unlock AI’s potential and deliver real benefits for people and businesses,” said Altman, co-founder and CEO, OpenAI.
Hock Tan, president and CEO, Broadcom noted that Broadcom’s collaboration with OpenAI signifies a pivotal moment in the pursuit of artificial general intelligence (AGI).
In another recent infrastructure deal, OpenAI last week said it was buying an an additional six gigawatts of chips from AMD in a deal worth tens of billions of dollars.
In September, chip giant Nvidia said that it will invest $100 billion in OpenAI.
Notably, OpenAI also struck a $300 billion cloud infrastructure with Oracle last month.
