Space tech startup Pixxel has raised $100 million in a Series C funding round co-led by Temasek and Seraphim.
The funding round saw participation from 360 ONE Asset, IMM Investment, as well as existing investors Radical Ventures, growX Ventures, and others.
The Bengaluru-based startup will use the fresh capital to expand its planetary infrastructure business, including scaling its Earth observation satellite constellations, strengthening its Earth intelligence software platform Aurora, advancing sovereign space systems, and increasing satellite manufacturing capacity through its Gigapixxel facility.
Pixxel was founded in 2019 by Awais Ahmed and Kshitij Khandelwal. The Bengaluru-based startup builds hyperspectral Earth observation satellites and Earth intelligence software that help governments and businesses monitor environmental and infrastructure changes using satellite data.
Commenting on the fundraise, Awais Ahmed, Founder and CEO of Pixxel, said the investment would help the company scale its vision of building planetary infrastructure by expanding sensing capabilities, intelligence software, and sovereign space capabilities for nations.
Mark Boggett, CEO of Seraphim Space, said Pixxel is well positioned across key space sector trends, including AI-powered Earth observation, sovereign space systems, and India's growing role in the global space technology ecosystem.
Pixxel last raised $36 million in a Series B extension round in June 2024, led by Google, taking its total funding at the time to around $71 million. The company has also received backing from investors including Lightspeed, Radical Ventures, Blume Ventures, and Glade Brook Capital.
The sector has gained significant investor attention this year. Earlier in May, Skyroot Aerospace became India’s first space-tech unicorn as it raised funding at a valuation of $1.1 billion.
