Reliance incorporates AI joint venture with Facebook

Reliance Industries Ltd has said that its wholly-owned artificial intelligence subsidiary Reliance Intelligence has incorporated Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Ltd, a joint venture (JV) with Facebook Overseas, Inc, a wholly-owned unit of Meta Platforms.
The incorporation of the JV follows the company's announcement in August this year for the AI partnership with Meta.
In the latest regulatory filing said that Reliance Intelligence will hold 70% in the JV and Facebook will hold the remaining 30% stake.
Reliance Intelligence and Facebook have jointly committed an initial investment of Rs 855 crore in the JV.
The company noted that no government or regulatory approvals were need for the incorporation of the JV.
When the JV was first announced in August, Reliance Industries had said that the JV will be engaged in developing, marketing and distributing enterprise AI services.
At that time Reliance Industries had also announced its partnership with Google Cloud, signalling the conglomerate's ambition to be at the forefront of AI development.
