Reliance Industries, JV partners to invest $11 bn to build AI data centre in India

Digital Connexion, a joint venture (JV) formed by Reliance Industries, Brookfield and US-based Digital Realty, will invest $11 billion to build a 1 gigawatt (GW) AI data centre in India.
The JV will build the data centre across a 400 acres campus at Visakhapatnam city in Andhra Pradesh.
Investments in building data centres is on the rise in the country as AI adoption begins to scale quickly.
Last month Google said it will invest around $15 billion to establish an AI hub in India over the next five years. The hub, which will be located in Visakhapatnam, will include a purpose-build data center campus capable of gigawatt-scale compute capacity.
Last week, Indian software major TCS joined hands with private equity firm TPG to invest $2 billion in equity to set up a JV to develop AI data centres.
