OpenAI has launched Pulse for its Pro subscribers that it is positioning as a feature that proactively thinks and works for users day and night.

"Pulse works for you overnight, and keeps thinking about your interests, your connected data, your recent chats, and more," Sam Altman, co-founder and CEO, OpenAI, said in an X post.

Separately, in a blogpost, OpenAI said that ChatGPT can do research on behalf of the users when they are doing something else.

For instance, each night with Pulse, ChatGPT can synthesizes information from the user's chat history and deliver personalized, focused updates the next day.

"These could look like follow-ups on topics you discuss often, ideas for quick, healthy dinner to make at home that evening, or next steps toward a longer-term goal such as training for a triathlon," it explained.

It also said that users can connect Gmail and Google Calendar to provide additional context for more relevant suggestions.

Interestingly, Altman noted that Pulse points to what he believes is the future of ChatGPT. "(A) shift from being all reactive to being significantly proactive, and extremely personalized," added Altman.
