Japanese tech major SoftBank plans to invest an additional $30 billion in OpenAI, media reports said.
This potential deal would be part of a larger fundraising effort that could bring in $100 billion total for the Sam Altman-led AI startup.
This could push OpenAI's valuation to roughly $830 billion.
SoftBank's CEO Masayoshi Son has been aggressively pursuing artificial intelligence opportunities. He had already completed $41 billion to OpenAI last December for an 11% ownership position.
OpenAI faces mounting expenses as it develops and operates its AI systems while competing with major players like Google.
Leaked investor documents indicate OpenAI is projected to spend about $22 billion against $13 billion in revenue in 2025, implying a net loss on the order of $9 billion for the year.
OpenAI is also reportedly expected to float its initial public offering (IPO) this year.
