Ajay Rajan joins Protean as MD and CEO after exiting YES Bank

YES Bank's transaction banking head Ajay Rajan will join Protean (eariler known as NSDL) as MD and CEO, effective June 1.

Protean eGov Technologies (formerly known as NSDL) has appointed former YES Bank executive Ajay Rajan as its new managing director and chief executive officer, effective June 1, 2026.

YES Bank on Wednesday said Ajay Rajan, the bank’s country head for transaction banking, government, MNC and new economy business, and IBU, has resigned from his position. He resigned on April 9, and will be relieved from services on May 31, 2026, the bank disclosed in an exchange filing.

Protean disclosed in a stock exchange filing following its board meeting on May 20 that Rajan has been appointed as an Additional Director (Executive) and designated as MD and CEO in the category of Key Managerial Personnel.

Rajan spent more than eight years at YES Bank and was part of the lender's senior management personnel category. He joined the bank in 2017 as Group President and Head of Transaction Banking Sales after a two decade stint at Deutsche Bank, where he led its global fintech business.

Rajan succeeds Suresh Sethi, who stepped down as Protean's MD and CEO on March 31, 2026, to join Visa as Group Country Manager.
