Former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni has made a strategic investment in digital insurance company Acko through his family office, Midas Deals.

The financial details of this investment was not revealed, though Dhoni will additionally take on the role of brand ambassador for the platform.

Acko was established in 2016 by co-founders Varun Dua and Ruchi Deepak as a technology-driven insurance provider focused on enhancing customer experience.

The platform offers comprehensive insurance solutions covering automobiles, health, travel, and corporate group health plans for employees.

The company has strategic partnerships with more than 50 digital platforms across India's internet ecosystem, including Oyo, redBus, Zomato, HDB Financial Services, and Urban Company.

Acko had gained unicorn status in 2021 after raising $255 million as part of its Series D round led by private equity firms General Atlantic and Multiples at a valuation of $1.1 billion.

In October last year, The Economic Times reported that Acko was in talks to close $120 million in a secondary deal.
