DSP Finance, the non-banking financial company (NBFC) arm of DSP Group, has acquired Salter Technologies, the company behind digital lending platform Volt Money.

The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

The transaction brings together DSP Finance’s capital base, risk management expertise and institutional framework with Volt Money’s technology-driven lending platform and customer distribution network. The acquisition is expected to bolster DSP Finance’s offerings in loans backed by financial assets, particularly mutual funds.

Volt Money allows users to obtain loans against their mutual fund investments without liquidating their holdings, with loan disbursals processed within minutes subject to approvals and compliance requirements. Through the deal, DSP Finance aims to broaden access to digital credit solutions across the wealth management and mutual fund ecosystem.

Since securing its NBFC licence in July 2024, DSP Finance has built a retail customer base of more than 1.8 lakh and grown its loan book to nearly Rs 4,000 crore.

Loans Against Mutual Funds (LAMF) have gained traction as investors increasingly seek liquidity without disrupting long-term investment plans. As financial assets form a larger share of household savings, borrowing against such holdings is emerging as a viable credit alternative.

Founded in 2022 by Ankit Agarwal, Bharat Lamba and Lalit Bihani, Volt Money focuses on enabling digital access to credit against mutual fund investments and other financial assets.
