Go Digit's Q1FY27 net premium up 7.4% to Rs 2,094 crore, profit falls 37.5%

Go Digit General Insurance recorded a 7.4% rise in net premium written to Rs 2,094 crore during the April-June quarter from Rs 1,951 crore in the same period a year ago.

The company's net profit declined 37.5% to Rs 86 crore in Q1 FY27 from Rs 138 crore in Q1 FY26, according to its quarterly financial results filed with the stock exchanges.

Go Digit General Insurance's loss ratio increased to 73.3% during the quarter from 70.3% a year ago. The metric measures the proportion of an insurer's premium income that is paid out as claims, with a higher ratio indicating that a larger share of premiums is being used to settle policyholders' claims.

The company's claims paid jumped 16% to Rs 1,047 crore from Rs 903 crore, weighing on profitability.

Total expenses rose 11.2% to Rs 2,289 crore during the quarter, compared to Rs 2,059 crore in the year-ago period, driven largely by higher claims and operating costs.

Employee remuneration and welfare expenses increased 10.2% to Rs 99 crore in Q1 FY27 from Rs 90 crore in Q1 FY26.
