Hrithik Roshan-endorsed RUGR, Blume-backed IppoPay under DGGI scanner

RUGR and IppoPay are now part of the wider investigation into suspected GST violations tied to a high-value online betting case.

RUGR Fintech, a venture backed company that has actor Hrithik Roshan as its brand ambassador, is among the three fintech and tech firms that has come under the scanner of the Hyderabad unit of the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI).

The fintech company is now part of wider investigation into suspected GST violations tied to a high-value online betting case, The Times of India reported citing unidentified sources.

As part of its latest investigation, the Hyderabad unit also carried our searches at Blume Ventures-backed IppoPay Technologies in Chennai and DecFin Tech in Bengaluru.

The operation, wrapped up last week, resulted in the seizure of documents and digital data, along with action under the CGST Act.

At IppoPay Technologies, officials collected key records and electronic evidence from devices and cloud storage, while also recording statements from staff. However, senior executives were reportedly unavailable during the search.

At RUGR Fintech, officials were unable to access the Bengaluru office due to alleged non-cooperation, prompting them to issue summons to its director for questioning.

Meanwhile, DecFin Tech’s Bengaluru premises were found locked and later sealed by authorities over concerns that evidence could be tampered with.

The crackdown is part of an ongoing probe into the betting-linked GST case, in which Fino Payments Bank CEO Rishi Gupta was arrested in February. Gupta was granted bail later in March after his writ petition challenging his arrest was rejected by the Telangana High Court.

The Head and Tale had exclusively reported that Gupta's arrest connected to an ongoing DGGI investigation into Wegofin Digital Solutions, technology service provider (TSP), and a Rs 5,000 crore illegal gaming-fintech network it is alleged to be part of.

Interestingly, both Wegofin and RUGR were among a bunch of new-age infrastructure players that had made a splash at the Global Fintech Fest(GFF) last year. Like RUGR, Wegofin, at one point, had signed on celebrities like Shraddha Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna as brand ambassadors.
