The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has partnered with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to launch Gramodyam, an initiative designed to nurture entrepreneurship in rural India.
Announced by NABARD Chairman Shaji KV during the institution’s 45th Foundation Day celebrations, the programme will be executed by NSDC under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, with support from the Institute for Industrial Development (IID).
Gramodyam is focused on helping aspiring rural business owners by providing entrepreneurship training, mentoring, business planning assistance, access to finance, and market connectivity. The initiative will combine digital tools with on-ground engagement to reach participants across states and union territories.
Selected candidates will go through counselling, assessments, skill development programmes, and mentorship before receiving support to establish their ventures. In its initial phase, the programme targets the creation and growth of nearly 4,000 rural enterprises over the next three years.
The scheme will also help entrepreneurs secure funding by assisting with project report preparation, loan applications, and connections with Regional Rural Banks and other lenders. Additionally, participants will receive guidance on leveraging government schemes and incentives.
To monitor progress, the programme will use NSDC’s digital platform to track participants from registration through business establishment, measuring indicators such as training completion, enterprise formation, UDYAM and GST registrations, and overall business performance.
