Pine Labs said that it has partnered with OpenAI to embed the AI startup's API's directly into the Indian fintech company's AI infrastructure.
This collaboration is expected to help Pine Labs to move beyond traditional automation to build agentic commerce, said the Indian company in a filing to the stock exchanges.
Pine Labs added that it is ensuring that every merchant from local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to global
enterprises is equipped with a stack that thinks, reasons, and grows by default.
"Our work with OpenAI ensures that our infrastructure is no longer just a participant in a trade, but a driver of efficiency and growth. We are building the first agentic stack for the next generation of the global economy," said B Amrish Rau, CEO, Pine Labs.
Oliver Jay, managing director, International, OpenAI, noted that the next phase of AI is about moving from information to action.
"By combining our advanced reasoning capabilities with Pine Labs’ deep merchant infrastructure, we are helping to create a powerful engine for innovation that turns complex financial workflows into seamless, agentic experiences at scale," added Jay.
Last year, OpenAI had partnered with another Indian fintech company Razorpay and National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to launch agentic payments on ChatGPT and explore AI-driven commerce in India.
