Fintech company Razorpay, which is backed by venture capital firms such as Peak XV Partners and Tiger Global, said that it has received the payment aggregator-cross border license from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
The license permits Razorpay to enable both inward and outward cross-border payments for businesses, said Razorpay in a statement.
Razorpay's cross border stack, which is used by companies including Airbnb, Agoda, Shopify, Klook, and Hostinger, continues to grow at 40% year-on-year, the statement noted.
With the fintech company's Razorpay International Payments gateway, Indian businesses can accept payments in more than 130 currencies using cards, wallets, and local bank transfers. Besides, the company offers a single integration for global platforms to go live in India without having to set up an India entity.
"With Razorpay International Payments, we’re taking the complexity out of cross-border payments," said Shashank Kumar, MD & co-founder, Razorpay, in the statement.
"Further, receiving the PA-CB license reinforces our deep focus on compliance, our partnerships with banks and regulators, and our commitment to helping Indian businesses participate in the global economy with confidence," added Kumar.
Last month, PayGlocal received the final approval from the central bank to operate as a PA for cross-border inward and outward transactions.
Easebuzz also got the RBI approval last month to function as a full-service PA, covering online, offline and cross-border payment operations in November.
