Razorpay partners with OpenAI to bring payments to Codex
06 Apr 2026, 03:02 PMThis will allow the developers on Codex to add payments system by enabling Razorpay's MCP Server while building an app.
Fintech company Razorpay said that it has partnered with OpenAI to integrate its payment solutions directly into the AI startup's coding platform Codex.
This will allow the developers on Codex to add payments system by enabling Razorpay's MCP Server while building an app, it said in a statement.
"By bringing Razorpay directly into Codex, we’re paving the way, i.e., the moment a developer creates something valuable, they can start charging for it right away," said Shashank Kumar, co-founder and MD of Razorpay.
Oliver Jay, managing director, International, OpenAI, said in the statement that the AI startup is seeing strong growth in adoption of Codex in India.
"In February, weekly users for the tool increased by 4x in just two weeks," added Jay.
Besides, Razorpay is also bringing payments management directly into OpenAI's AI chatbot ChatGPT.
"Businesses can install Razorpay’s App from the ChatGPT app directory and manage payments, etc., simply by asking questions," it said.
In October last year, Razorpay, National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), and OpenAI had partnered to work towards launching Agentic Payments on ChatGPT and explore AI-driven commerce at a national scale.
Earlier in February, Razorpay and NPCI also announced the launch of agentic payments on Claude, ChatGPT's competitor.
