Scapia launches Rs 20 crore ESOP buyback

21 Jul 2026, 12:19 PM

The development comes after Scapia raised $63 million in a Series C funding round in May led by General Catalyst.

Travel-focused fintech startup Scapia has rolled out a Rs 20 crore employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) buyback, allowing eligible employees to monetize a portion of their vested stock options.

As part of the initiative, employees can sell up to 10% of their vested ESOP holdings, providing liquidity ahead of the company’s next phase of growth.

The development comes after Scapia raised $63 million in a Series C funding round in May led by General Catalyst, with participation from existing backers Peak XV Partners and Z47. The startup has raised over $100 million in the past year as it broadens its offerings beyond credit cards into a full-fledged travel platform.

Founded by Anil Goteti in 2022, Scapia combines travel and financial services through co-branded credit cards issued in partnership with Federal Bank and BOBCARD, alongside services such as flights, hotels, visas, trains, buses, and travel experiences.

The company says flight bookings have expanded five to six times year-on-year, while hotel bookings have grown nearly eightfold. Its credit cards have reportedly been used across 174 countries and support transactions in 113 currencies.

Scapia's platform and card products are currently available across more than 17,500 pincodes in India.

The buyback adds Scapia to a list of startups providing liquidity opportunities to employees through ESOP programmes.

Other companies that have conducted such exercises this year include BrowserStack, Innovaccer, CoinDCX, Unacademy, Cashfree Payments, Plum, Tractor Junction, Emversity, and Kratikal. Flipkart also recently approved a fresh ESOP liquidity event for its employees.
