 
                     
                    Swedfund extends $20 million loan to microlender CreditAccess Grameen

Sweden’s development finance institution Swedfund said that is extending a loan of $20 million to Indian microfinance institution CreditAccess Grameen.
The investment will help CreditAccess provide loans to low-income women in rural areas in India, said Swedfund in a statement.
"CreditAccess Grameen is dedicated to reaching women and underserved populations. Through this loan, we can further strengthen gender equality and support job creation," said Jane Niedra, Investment Director Financial Inclusion at Swedfund.
Swedfund had earlier extended loan to CreditAccess in 2021.
CreditAccess, which was founded in May 1999 by Vinatha Reddy, operates across 433 districts in 16 states and one union territory with a strong rural focus.
Earlier in February this year, CreditAccess had raised $50 million from International Finance Corp (IFC).
In November last year, CreditAccess had secured 25 million euros from the German Investment Corporation (DEG) and Rs 170 crore through a co-financing arrangement with Citi.
