Mochatrade, a trading platform catering to Indian users, has raised $5.5 million in a seed funding round led by CoinFund.

The funding round also saw participation from Coinbase Ventures and Zero Knowledge Ventures, among others. Existing backers include Y Combinator and Pioneer Fund.

The startup plans to deploy the fresh capital towards developing its trading engine and risk management infrastructure. It also aims to expand its reach among active traders in India.

Founded in 2026 by Utkarsh Sinha, Parth Maheshwari and Chetan Manda, Mochatrade offers a platform that combines UPI-based deposits and rupee-denominated balances with access to contracts linked to US stocks, indices and commodities.

The platform allows users to take long or short positions through perpetual futures contracts without opening a US brokerage account or owning the underlying shares. It also provides rupee-based views of margins, profits and losses. However, leveraged trading can amplify losses, while the availability of products and features remains subject to applicable regulations and risk controls.

Mochatrade has said that its waitlist has crossed 25,000 sign-ups. The company also plans to explore contracts linked to select pre-IPO companies, US stock options and social trading features, subject to regulatory approvals.

The startup's latest $5.5 million seed round is its announced funding milestone. Details of any earlier funding rounds, including the amounts and dates, have not been specified in the information available.

Mochatrade's entry comes as trading platforms explore ways to give Indian users exposure to international financial markets through familiar interfaces and digital payment systems.
