Elon Musk's AI startup xAI has launched the newest version of its AI chatbot, Grok 4, even as its previous version sparked a furore over its anti-Semitic remarks in the past week.

xAI also unveiled Grok 4 Heavy and a new $300-per-month AI subscription plan, SuperGrok Heavy.

Speaking about Grok 4 during a livestream, Musk said that Grok 4 is better than PhD level in every subject without any exceptions.

He also said that while at times the newest version of the chatbot may lack common sense that it is only a matter of time that it will invent new technologies or discover new physics.

The launch of Grok 4 late Wednesday came soon after X CEO Linda Yaccarino stepped down from her role roughly after two years.

Besides, the launch also comes amid the backlash Musk has been facing after Grok's official automated X account went rogue few days ago when it responded to users with antisemitic comments criticizing Hollywood’s “Jewish executives” and praising Hitler. xAI had to delete the offensive posts and limit Grok's account briefly.

xAI's Grok 4 Heavy is the "multi-agent version" that provides increased performance and its subscription plan SupurGrok Heavy, which will provide users with early access, is similar to ultra-premium tiers offered by rivals OpenAI, Google and Anthropic.

Grok was launched in November 2023 as a response to OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini.

OpenAI is also expected to launch its next major ChatGPT model, GPT‑5, in this summer.
