Fundamentum's Ashish Kumar launches Rs 2,000 crore AI and deeptech fund F2A

Nandan Nilekani will back F2A as an anchor investor, similar to his involvement with Fundamentum Partnership.

Ashish Kumar, co-founder at Fundamentum Partnership, is launching a new investment platform focused on artificial intelligence (AI) and deeptech startups.

The platform, called F2A (Fundamentum Frontier Advisors), is targeting a corpus of Rs 2,000 crore, including a Rs 1,000 crore greenshoe option.

Nandan Nilekani will back F2A as an anchor investor, similar to his involvement with Fundamentum Partnership.

The platform has already brought on former SIDBI Venture Capital executive Debraj Banerjee as General Partner and is expected to expand the team further.

F2A will seek to back AI and deeptech startups.

Kumar will continue overseeing Fundamentum’s existing portfolio while building out the new investment platform.

New and old venture capital firms are increasingly focusing on investing in AI and deeptech startups.

Earlier this month, Shastra VC rolled out a $100 million fund to invest in AI and deeptech companies.

Even seasoned venture capital firms like Peak XV Partners, Nexus and Accel that closed their new funds over the past months are doubling down on AI investments.
