The comes just days after Amazon agreed to invest a fresh $5 billion in Anthropic.

Google will invest up to $40 billion in Anthropic, highlighting the increasing standing of the AI startup following the preview of its model Claude Mythos.

As part of the deal, Google will invest $10 billion in cash in Anthropic at a $350 billion valuation, and invest the remaining amount based on the company meeting some targets.

The comes just days after Amazon agreed to invest a fresh $5 billion in Anthropic.

The fresh investment commitments in the Claude maker comes after Anthropic earlier this month debuted and launched the preview of its AI model, Claude Mythos, which it has positioned as the most advanced AI model to date. The model is designed for advanced cybersecurity tasks and was not released to the general public due to safety concerns.

Earlier in February, Anthropic said it has raised $30 billion in its Series G funding round led by GIC and Coatue.

Last month, Anthropic's rival OpenAI raised $122 billion at a post-money valuation of $852 billion in a round co-led by SoftBank with a16z, D.E. Shaw Ventures, MGX, TPG and accounts advised by T. Rowe Price Associates.
