OpenAI launched its new model GPT-5.2 within a month of the roll out of GPT-5.1, underlining intense competition from Google as the tech giant introduced its own updated version of Gemini that drew favorable reviews.

GPT-5.2 is the most advanced frontier model for professional work and long-running agents, said OpenAI in blog post.

The new model outperforms industry professionals at well-specified knowledge work tasks spanning 44 occupations, it added. These tasks include making presentations, spreadsheets, and other artifacts.

The new model is now available to user with paid plans and the API are available now to all developers.

It also said that  GPT‑5.2 Pro and GPT‑5.2 Thinking are the world’s best models for assisting and accelerating scientists.

In late November, Google launched Gemini 3, which its CEO Sundar Pichai described it as "our most intelligent model".

Sam Altman, founder, OpenAI, tweeted "looks like a great model" when Gemini 3 was launched.

Soon after The Information reported that Altman had sent an internal "code red" memo to staff calling for focusing on creating a better ChatGPT experience over things like introducing ads.

Chinese AI company DeepSeek also announced two new AI models called DeepSeek-V3.2 and DeepSeek-V3.2-Speciale recently. Earlier this year, DeepSeek’s breakout model set off a furore, shaking the AI establishment.
