San Francisco-based artificial intelligence startup Sol has emerged from stealth with $4 million in a funding round led by General Catalyst and Nexus Venture Partners.

The funding round saw participation from DeVC, Peercheque and Kunal Shah.

The Bengaluru-based startup will use the fresh capital to expand its proactive AI assistant, which automates tasks such as research, document creation, presentations, scheduling, and email responses.

Sol was founded in 2025 by Anish Karan, Ranjith Nair and Prateek Srivastava, who were all earlier associated with fintech startup Cred. The startup is building a proactive AI assistant that scans Gmail for user commitments and helps with tasks such as research, drafting, presentations and meeting coordination, with user approval required before any action.

"People whose work runs through email often have to repeat themselves: first in email, then again when they ask an AI tool to act. There’s no good reason for that. If I’ve already said I’ll do something, there should be an AI that gets started on it," said Anish Karan, CEO of Sol.

"Sol’s problem is simple and deeply felt: if you’ve said you’ll do something, AI should already be doing it," said Akarsh Shrivastava, partner at General Catalyst.
