BharatPe has launched BharatPe Flex, a Credit-on-UPI product developed in partnership with Yes Bank, allowing users to make UPI payments through a pre-approved credit line.
The offering enables customers to use credit for a range of transactions, including payments at stores, online purchases, utility bill payments, mobile recharges, travel bookings and fuel purchases, while continuing to use the UPI ecosystem, a statement said.
Eligible users can complete a fully digital onboarding and KYC process and receive approval within minutes. Customers can repay the amount within a billing cycle with an interest-free period of up to 45 days or convert their spends into EMIs.
The statement added BharatPe Flex is designed to provide greater flexibility in managing everyday expenses without requiring users to switch to a separate payment platform.
Key features of the product include support for both online and offline UPI transactions, flexible repayment options, digital onboarding, in-app expense tracking and rewards on eligible payments made through BharatPe UPI.
The launch comes as Credit-on-UPI gains traction in India, with fintech companies and banks expanding credit-based payment offerings on the country's digital payments infrastructure.
Founded in 2018, BharatPe provides payments and lending solutions to merchants across India. The company says it serves more than 1.7 crore registered merchants across over 450 cities and processes more than 450 million UPI transactions every month.
