The Bengaluru-based startup will use the fresh capital to strengthen its underwriting, actuarial, catastrophe modelling, and AI capabilities.

Technology-driven risk and reinsurance platform InRisk Labs has secured $27 million in a Series A funding round co-led by Bessemer Venture Partners and Northpoint Capital.

The Bengaluru-based startup will use the fresh capital to strengthen its underwriting, actuarial, catastrophe modelling, and AI capabilities. It also plans to expand into natural catastrophe, climate risk, marine cargo, motor, and other non-life insurance segments, while developing parametric and structured reinsurance products and supporting the growth of its subsidiary EarthRe Insurance IFSC Ltd's operations.

Meanwhile, EarthRe Insurance IFSC has received approval from the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) to operate as a reinsurer from GIFT City.

InRisk Labs was founded by Aavrit Singhal, Malay Kumar Poddar, Siddesh Ramasubramanian, and Shivakumar R S in 2023. The company builds technology, data, and risk intelligence infrastructure for the insurance and reinsurance industry. Through EarthRe, it combines a licensed reinsurance platform with AI-powered risk assessment tools to serve markets across India and other emerging economies. EarthRe focuses on non-life reinsurance, including climate risk, property, crop, catastrophe, and specialty insurance lines.

"India will be the most consequential insurance market over the next two decades," noted Poddar, "To drive sustainable growth, we must build indigenous capacity and tailored solutions built by India, for India," he added.
