Digital payments and lending firm PayU on Wednesday said it has made a strategic partnership with conversational AI company CoRover.ai to support AI-led agentic payments across multiple Indian languages and dialects.

As part of the partnership, PayU's payment infrastructure will be integrated with CoRover's BharatGPT-powered conversational Agentic AI platform and commerce protocol, said PayU in a statement.

BharatGPT is the enterprise grade Large Language Model (LLM) of CoRover, which drew investment from private lender HDFC Bank in August last year.

The statement noted that the partnership is one of the first collaborations between a sovereign LLM provider and a payment aggregator to power AI-driven agentic payments.

Manas Mishra, chief product officer, PayU, noted that the next phase of digital payments will happen inside AI-led conversations, and India's next 500 million users, who are voice-first and conversational.

"Conversational Agentic AI is fundamentally transforming how people interact with technology. When AI agents can understand intent, complete tasks, and execute payments securely within a conversation, commerce becomes frictionless," said Ankush Sabharwal, CEO, CoRover.ai.

Earlier this week, PayU also a struck a partnership with GoKwik to launch integrated commerce stack for direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands.
