Fintech company PhiCommerce, which is backed by venture capital firm Beenext, has appointed Kunal Gothivarekar as its Chief Business Officer for Payment Aggregation.

Prior to this, Gothivarekar was Head of Offline Business at Razorpay.

The Head and Tale was the first to report in September that Gothivarekar was moving out of Razorpay as part of some internal re-alignment at the payment aggregator major. He had joined Razorpay in March 2024.

In his new role at PhiCommerce, Gothivarekar will lead the growth of its payment aggregator business.

"Grateful for the trust placed in me and excited to partner with the incredible team here to shape the next phase of growth and innovation in the payments ecosystem," said Gothivarekar in a LinkedIn post.

Prior to Razorpay, Gothivarekar, who has over 25 years of experience, worked with Fiserv and ICICI Bank.

Gothivarekar's appointment is interesting as Phi Commerce does not operate in the PoS space and Gothivarekar's experience largely lies in that area.

Last month, PhiCommerce appointed former executive director at Karnataka Bank as CEO of India business.

Founded in 2015 by Tushar Ashok Shankar, Jose Thattil, Anil Sohanlal Sharma and Rajesh Hanumantrao Londhe, Phi Commerce has raised $20 million so far from investors including Beenext and DG Strategic.
