PhonePe and Visa have introduced three new payment solutions aimed at making card-based transactions more seamless for consumers and small businesses in India and abroad.

Announced at the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026, the payment solutions are: Cross Border Scan to Pay, Tap to Pay and Smart Accept.

PhonePe said it is the first Indian app to offer Visa’s Cross Border Scan to Pay, allowing users to make payments by scanning Visa-supported QR codes across 14 international markets, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan and South Korea.

The company will also roll out Tap to Pay, allowing Android users to make contactless payments at POS terminals using tokenised Visa cards stored on PhonePe. The feature will begin rolling out from September 9.

Smart Accept will allow micro-merchants to accept card payments directly on their smartphones, without the need for a separate POS terminal. Customers can tap physical cards or tokenised mobile wallets against the merchant’s device.

PhonePe said the partnership builds on its Visa device tokenisation offering launched in February 2025.

Rahul Chari, founder and CPTO at PhonePe, said the partnership will help create a more accessible and secure payment ecosystem by combining online tokenisation, contactless payments, cross-border QR payments and merchant card acceptance.

Suresh Sethi, group country manager, India and South Asia, Visa, said the collaboration aims to make digital commerce more secure and convenient for Indian consumers while helping connect them with the global economy.

PhonePe said it had more than 71.5 crore registered users and over 5 crore merchants on its network as of July 2026.
