Discount brokerage platform Pocketful has appointed Prateek Singh as its new Chief Executive Officer.
In his new role, Singh will be responsible to create an accessible investment platform that enables all investors to use its services, it said in a statement.
Prior to this appointment, Singh was Chief Growth Officer at Bajaj Broking, which is a 100% subsidiary of Bajaj Finance Ltd. At Bajaj Broking, Singh helped the company develop its digital presence and improve its platform functionalities, it noted.
Pocketful was incorporated in November 2021 as Pocketful Fintech Capital Pvt Ltd and began building out its brokerage platform in 2022. The company was founded by brothers Sarvam Goel and Rishabh Goel. It is backed by Goel family-led financial services business Pace Group, which was established in 1995.
The statement said that Pocketful offers zero brokerage on equity delivery trades, along with zero account opening charges and no annual maintenance fees, positioning it as a low-cost option for retail investors. At the same time, the platform targets active traders with advanced tools designed for speed, precision, and reliability. It also provides a margin trading facility starting at 5.99% per annum, allowing users greater flexibility, and includes Pocketful GPT, an in-house intelligence layer that enables users to generate trade ideas, analyse portfolios, and execute trades within a single interface, it added.
Pocketful operates in India’s crowded discount broking space, competing directly with platforms like Zerodha, Groww, Upstox, Angel One, and Dhan, all of which offer low-cost, app-first trading to retail investors. It also faces competition from smaller, pricing-focused brokers such as 5paisa and Fyers, as well as legacy players like ICICI Securities and HDFC Securities that compete on trust and distribution.
