RBI appoints Usha Janakiraman as executive director

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appointed Usha Janakiraman as Executive Director starting December 1, 2025.
In her new role, she will oversee the Department of Supervision, specifically handling risk, analytics and vulnerability assessment functions, said the central bank in a statement.
Prior to this, she held the role of Chief General Manager-in-Charge at the Department of Regulation in Mumbai's Central Office.
With more than thirty years at the central bank, Janakiraman, a qualified chartered accountant, brings expertise across multiple domains including financial regulation, overseas investments, banking oversight, government debt administration, and currency operations.
In October, the RBI appointed Sanjay Kumar Hansda and Sonali Sen Gupta as Executive Directors.
