RBI elevates Sudhakar Malli as executive director

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has promoted Sudhakar Malli as Executive Director, with the appointment taking effect on October 1, 2026.
In his new role, Malli will be responsible for the Department of Supervision (Supervisory Assessment), the central bank said in a statement.
Before taking up the new position, he was serving as the Chief General Manager-in-Charge of the central bank’s Department of Supervision.
A career banker with nearly 30 years of experience at the RBI, Malli has spent more than 25 years overseeing the supervision of banks, non-banking financial companies (NBFCs), and cooperative banks.
He has also around five years of supervisory exposure in international jurisdictions and has worked in the area of currency management.
He holds a B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB).
The RBI has over a dozen executive directors and a chief financial officer who functions at the executive director rank.
