Paytm has launched solar-powered soundbox for merchants that can be charged with minimal sunlight, providing full-day power.

This device is equipped with a solar panel on top, allowing it to auto-charge under sunlight. It features two batteries—one that charges with solar energy and another that charges with electricity.

Even if completely discharged, the solar battery can provide a full day of power after just 2-3 hours of sun exposure, while the electricity-powered battery can last up to 10 days without recharging, the company stated. It features the Paytm QR code that customers can scan to make UPI and Rupay Credit Card payments via UPI.

Designed specifically for India’s small merchants such as street vendors, the Paytm Solar Soundbox is a 4G-connected device which boasts a 3-watt speaker. The device supports audio notifications in 11 languages, catering to a diverse range of merchants and customers across India.

“We are committed to empowering India’s small merchants with technology that makes mobile payments seamless and accessible. The Paytm Solar Soundbox is a testament to our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and financial inclusion,” Paytm CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma said.

Recently, the company also launched soundbox which combines NFC technology with mobile QR payments, offering a solution for card payments to millions of offline merchants.
