Elevation Capital offloads Paytm stake worth Rs 2,038 crore via bulk deals

Venture capital firm Elevation Capital has reduced its stake in fintech major Paytm by selling shares worth about Rs 2,038 crore through bulk deals.

The transaction saw three entities of the venture capital firm -- Elevation Capital V, SAIF III Mauritius Company and SAIF Partners India IV -- collectively offload 1.49 crore shares at Rs 1,367.8 apiece.

SAIF III Mauritius Company sold 97.43 lakh shares worth Rs 1,332.7 crore, while SAIF Partners India IV divested 41.36 lakh shares valued at Rs 565.77 crore. Elevation Capital V sold the remaining 10.2 lakh shares for Rs 139.55 crore.

The shares were acquired by a mix of domestic mutual funds, insurance firms and global institutional investors. Buyers included Axis Mutual Fund, Edelweiss Mutual Fund, Franklin Templeton, Tata Mutual Fund, Susquehanna, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and Societe Generale.

In May, the venture capital firm had sold shares worth around Rs 630 crore. Elevation Capital, the earliest major institutional investor in Paytm, held a stake of a little over 12% in the company at the end of the June quarter.
