Dream Sports CTO Amit Sharma steps down to launch AI venture

08 Jul 2026, 11:26 AM

The move follows the closure of Dream Play, an AI-based sports analytics platform, and the winding down of Dream Money, the company’s fintech initiative.

Amit Sharma, the Chief Technology Officer of Dream Sports, has left the company to start an artificial intelligence venture.

"After a wonderful decade at Dream Sports, it’s finally time for me to move on to my next adventure," said Sharma in a LinkedIn post.

Sharma joined Dream Sports in 2016 following stints at Netflix and Yahoo in the US.

His departure comes during a period of organisational changes at Dream Sports. As part of the company’s restructuring, Sharma had been leading Dream Sports AI, the group’s artificial intelligence-focused business, as founder and CEO.

The move also follows the closure of Dream Play, an AI-based sports analytics platform, and the winding down of Dream Money, the company’s fintech initiative. Both ventures were launched as part of Dream Sports’ efforts to diversify beyond fantasy sports.

Founded by Harsh Jain and Bhavit Sheth, Dream Sports was valued at $8 billion in 2021 and has been adapting its business strategy amid regulatory headwinds facing India’s real-money gaming sector.

Sharma’s exit comes after chief marketing officer Vikrant Mudaliar also left the company in June following an eight-year tenure.
