The funding round will also see participation from Glade Brook Capital, Gaja Capital, Indigo Ventures, and several angel investors and family offices.

Sarvam AI will raise $74 million in an extended Series B funding round led by Nvidia Corp, the Entrackr reported citing filings with the Registrar of Companies (RoC).

The funding round will also see participation from Glade Brook Capital, Gaja Capital, Indigo Ventures, and several angel investors and family offices.

To raise the additional funding, the AI startup's board has passed a special resolution to approve the issuance of 20,244 Series B preference shares and 7 equity shares at an issue price of Rs 3,44,570 each.

Earlier in June, Sarvam AI raised $234 million in the first round of the ongoing Series B funding led by Indian IT major HCLTech. This transaction valued the startup at $1.5 billion, catapulting it to the famed unicorn-club of companies.

Last week, the AI startup made a slew of announcements, including its plans to build a trillion-plus parameter foundational model from scratch in the next six months, clearly signalling its global frontier AI lab ambitions.

The company also announced the appointment of Devendra Chaplot, who was founding member at Mistral AI and at former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati-floated Thinking Machines Lab. In his most recent role, Chaplot was with Elon Musk’s xAI.

Sarvam AI, founded by Vivek Raghavan and Pratyush Kumar, had raised $41 million in its Series A funding in 2023 led by Lightspeed Venture Partners with participation from Peak XV Partners, Khosla Ventures, and investor Vinod Khosla.
