BharatPe has appointed Ajit Kumar, previously a senior vice president at Paytm, as its chief technology officer.
This appointment comes months after the company's previous technology head Pankaj Goel left the organization.
In his new position, Kumar will lead BharatPe's technology roadmap and drive innovation initiatives spanning both its payment solutions and lending services.
Kumar, an IIT Guwahati graduate, spent nearly a decade at Paytm, initially joining as general manager back in 2017. He has close to 20 years of experience in the technology sector, having previously held positions at companies including Snapdeal, Times Internet, and xAd Inc.
BharatPe CEO Nalin Negi said that Kumar's track record in developing large-scale fintech systems and his expertise in digital payments and UPI technology will play a crucial role as the company continues advancing its technical capabilities.
The appointment comes as BharatPe prepares for its initial public offering (IPO). In June, The Head and Tale reported that Negi is tightening the screws on performance across verticals - starting with tech.
