BNP Paribas, Societe Generale among investors sell Rs 2,700 crore Lenskart shares

Lenskart saw another major block deal on August 31, with institutional investors selling shares worth nearly Rs 2,700 crore in the eyewear retailer.

As per NSE data, BNP Paribas Financial Markets sold 1.29 crore Lenskart shares at Rs 662.22 apiece, worth around Rs 855 crore. Societe Generale sold 1.41 crore shares at Rs 661.53 each, taking the value of its sale to around Rs 931 crore.

BlackRock Emerging Markets Fund also sold 3.07 lakh shares worth around Rs 2 crore, while Integrated Core Strategies (Asia) offloaded 1.35 crore shares valued at nearly Rs 893 crore.

Overall, around 4.08 crore Lenskart shares changed hands in the transactions, taking the total deal value to Rs 2,699.5 crore.

The latest deal comes days after another large block transaction on August 28, when nearly 2.95 crore Lenskart shares worth Rs 1,857 crore changed hands at Rs 630 apiece. Alpha Wave Ventures was among the reported sellers, while Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, ICICI Prudential and SBI Mutual Fund were among the buyers.

The transactions come amid a series of stake sales by Lenskart's existing investors. SoftBank has sold shares worth Rs 2,873 crore in June and another Rs 2,888 crore in August. ADIA and Temasek have also reduced their holdings through transactions worth around Rs 1,960 crore and Rs 1,940 crore, respectively.
