Amazon to invest $35 billion in India by 2030 to advance AI innovation

Tech giant Amazon said that it plans to invest $35 billion in India through 2030 to boost its artificial intelligence (AI) efforts.
The investment will create 1 million jobs, shore up cumulative exports to $80 billion, and deliver AI benefits to 15 million small businesses, said Amazon in a statement.
Amazon has invested around $40 billion in India so far.
"We have invested at scale in growing the physical and digital infrastructure for small businesses in India, creating millions of jobs, and taking Made-in-India global," said Amit Agarwal, senior VP emerging markets, Amazon.
Amazon's investment in India reflects the broader trend where other global tech giants like Microsoft and Google have also committed billions of dollars to strengthen India's AI capabilities.
Earlier on Tuesday, Microsoft committed to invest $17.5 billion in India, touting it as its largest investment ever in Asia.
In October, Google said it will invest around $15 billion to establish an AI hub in India over the next five years.
